If you think youth are often consumed by social media and apathetic, you have not met Kennady Savage. Kennedy is a 16 year old Mt. Blue High School student with many interests including writing and bringing awareness to mental health issues through the Yellow Tulip Project where tulips are planted each Fall to blossom in the Spring symbolizing new beginnings and hope. Current tulip gardens have been planted at UMF, Franklin Memorial Hospital and area schools.

She spoke at Rotary this week and encouraged Rotarians to be an "upstander" - one who stands up to bullying which can often lead to depression and even suicide. Kennedy is a leader who has channeled her own experiences with depression into a positive message.

We can all learn from this youth leader.
